My Story

I didn't originally set out to become an English Communication Coach.

My professional background is in biomedicine and public health, and I've been fortunate to have a varied career spanning consulting, the medical device industry, charities, start-ups, and public health research (I even had a brief stint as a tennis coach!).

Although these roles were very different, they all had something in common: communication, learning, and helping people achieve their goals. I believe this varied experience has become one of my greatest strengths as an English coach. I have now worked with professionals from many different industries and backgrounds.

When I started teaching English online, I quickly realised how much I enjoyed the human side of it. Every learner brings a unique story, career path, and set of ambitions, which means no two conversations are ever the same.

What began as a side project gradually became something much bigger. Today, I have the opportunity to work with professionals from around the world, helping them build confidence, communicate more naturally, and achieve their goals through English.

My Professional Background

Before becoming an English Communication Coach, I built a career across biomedicine, public health, consulting, health research, start-up environments, and the medical device industry.

These roles gave me the opportunity to work closely with doctors, clinical teams, researchers, and international partners across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. Whether collaborating with manufacturing partners in Germany, the USA, and Japan, completing a consultancy placement in Ghana, or working alongside multidisciplinary healthcare teams, I developed a deep appreciation for the importance of clear, confident communication across cultures and professions.

Today, I bring that experience into my coaching, helping me understand the real-world communication challenges professionals face in international and specialist environments.

My goal isn't simply to improve your English. It's to help you communicate with confidence in the situations that matter most to you.

Over the past year, I've been fortunate enough to spend time living abroad while learning Spanish myself. Experiencing life through another language has completely changed the way I think about language learning.

It's reminded me what it feels like to hesitate, search for the right words, misunderstand conversations, and gradually build confidence through real interactions. More importantly, it's shown me that language learning isn't about being perfect, it's about feeling confident enough to communicate, connect with people, and be yourself.

My experience has also reinforced something I strongly believe: meaningful progress comes through regular conversation, real-world experiences, and having the confidence to speak, even when you don't get everything right.

Living Abroad and Language Learning

Outside of Coaching

When I'm not coaching, you'll usually find me exploring somewhere new, cycling, hiking, playing tennis, or continuing my own Spanish learning journey.

One of the reasons I enjoy teaching English so much is that I'm naturally curious about people. I love travelling, experiencing different cultures, and hearing the stories, careers, and perspectives of the people I meet along the way. I also love sharing stories experiences from my country, Scotland!

If you'd like to find out more or see whether we're a good fit, feel free to book a free consultation or get in touch. I'd love to hear your story.
